Library Student Advisory Committee

Library Student Advisory Committee :
The student voice is essential to meet the needs of Niagara College students and establish a solid relationship between students and Niagara College Libraries. Ultimately, this group will help the Library determine a path for the future and meet the requirements of students today.
Goals of Committee: Overall, the purpose of this committee is to gain insight into the student perspective for Library projects and daily operations and to ensure that our assumptions about student needs are accurate.
Discussions will include: Library/learning commons facilities planning (e.g. NOTL Learning Commons)
Library services planning (e.g. online study room booking)
Special events for students (e.g. games night)
Online resources planning (e.g. website redesign, new databases)
Physical collection development suggestions (e.g. graphic novels, DVD titles)
Look for the Library Student Advisory Sign Up Sheets at the student Services fairs which will be held on January 5th in the Learning Commons in Welland and January 6th in NOTL on the main floor north hallway. Sign Up Sheets will also be available NCLibraries circulation desks.

End of Semester Reminder: Silent Study Areas and Group Study Rooms

Silent study areas and study rooms are available in the NCLibraries.
Don’t forget……
As the semester comes to a close, we wanted to remind you that NClibraries offer Silent Study Rooms, for individual quiet study. Carrels have been set up so that you can grab your little quiet corner of the world and get down to work.
Both campus libraries are also offering Group Study Rooms too. Group study rooms are available for peer tutoring or group projects and discussion. Each study room has seating for at least 4 students and contains power outlets, network drops, whiteboard and computer screens. Whiteboard markers may be borrowed from the Library circulation desk.
Please book your study room at the circulation desk. In the interest of making the rooms accessible to all, the Library will book a room up to one week in advance for a maximum of 2 hours per day per group.
