A New Student’s Guide to the Library
For those of you who are new to Niagara College, let me tell you a bit about what the library has to offer you and why you’ll want to use it.
We’re the place to study. For individuals, the library provides study carrels, as well as laptop areas where you can plug in and work. For group study, we provide tables where you can work together, as well as group discussion rooms.
We’re the place to research. Not only do we have books specifically for your program and assignments, but we also have journals, newspapers, DVDs, videos and CD-ROMs. Check out our website for even more resources, such as journals, encyclopedias and ebooks.
We offer the services you need. The library has open-access computers, wireless internet, printers, scanners and photocopiers available for your use. We also loan equipment, such as laptops, LCD projectors, digital cameras, video cameras and voice recorders to enhance your class assignments. For a professional appearance for your reports, the library offers binding services for a small fee. We also assist you in the small (but necessary) details, providing paper cutters, staplers, hole punches and paper clips.
Finally, the library has friendly, knowledgable staff who are ready to assist you however we can. Not sure of how to look for a book? Can’t find anything on your assignment topic? Don’t remember how to use the research databases? Just ask us – we can help!
