What Do Travel, The Sopranos and Origami Have in Common?

Posted in Displays, New Material by lhollemans on Jan 24, 2008

They’re all part of our book displays right now!

The Library always has great displays of books and other material for you to browse through.

Right now at the NOTL Campus, we’re featuring a travel display that you’ll notice as soon as you walk in our doors.  Whether you want to start planning your next vacation or just learn more about a particular place or country, we’re bound to have a book that will interest you.

At the Welland Campus we have a Hmmm… Interesting display, which can be found next to the reference desk.  Book topics range from organic crafts to The Sopranos and everything inbetween.  Come in and pick up something interesting to read today!

Interested in Horticulture?

The Library has three new online Horicultural Journals available for you to use!  Journal of the American Society for Horticultural Science, HortScience and HortTechnology can each be accessed on the Research Databases page of the Library’s website.

Come to the Library, the Sooner the Better!

Happy New Year and welcome back to Niagara College!  Here at the Library, we’re ready to start the new semester and hope you’ll stop in.

Now, you may be thinking to yourself, “The semester’s barely started and I don’t have any big assignments yet.  Why would I need to come to the Library?”.  Well, here are just a few very good reasons:

- You can save yourself a lot of money by signing out support materials for your course, rather than purchasing them.  What are support materials?  Look at your course information sheet and in addition to a required textbook(s), you’ll often see a list of support materials.  The Library carries quite a number of these - just check our catalogue to see if we have a specific title.

- We have computers and a printer.  You can use them to get your computer login information, check to see if your instructors have posted something new on Blackboard or print out your timetable.

- We have interesting magazines that you can read during a spare.  Both campus collections include Canadian Geographic, Health, Maclean’s, Sports Illustrated, Time and Rolling Stone.  The Niagara-on-the-Lake campus also has titles such as Bicycling, Golf, Homemaker’s Magazine and People, while the Welland Campus has Canadian Living, Entertainment Weekly, House Beautiful, Reader’s Digest, as well as many other titles.

- It’s quiet here…. really quiet.  So bring your laptop (or sign one out from us) and enjoy the peace, as well as the wireless Internet access, many places to plug in, and comfortable chairs.  Or if you’re with a group of friends, sit around a large table or book a discussion room to use.
